| NEW - YET TRADITIONAL In 1962, to serve the needs of the constantly growing metropolitan area, Gawler's moved into its present funeral home. This three-story building was designed by Architect Arthur L. Anderson, A.I.A., with Don D. McAfee & Associate, A.I.D., handling interior decorations. A classic Georgian building of brick construction, Galwer's is situated on an acre tract of land at Wisconsin Avenue and Harrison Street in Northwest Washington. Private parking for over 100 cars is also provided. In 2003 Joseph Gawler's Sons, Inc. took on an extensive three stage renovation project led by Freeman and Associates, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. The renovation project aimed at maintaining the classic, comfortable feel of Joseph Gawler's Sons while updating and refurbishing many of the intricate pieces of furniture and history throughout the building. |
