A graceful, red-carpeted circular
staircase is one of many points of
beauty in Gawler's funeral home. The
black-and-white marble floor and the
chandelier -- a copy of one in the
Governor's Palace in Williamsburg,
Virginia -- add to this distinctive setting.
A mural, consisting of 32 pounds of
wallpaper, covers the walls of Gawler's
reception room. It is identical to the
mural at the diplomatic entrance in the
White House. The mural shows
Boston Harbor and West Point, New
York, both circa late 17th century.
